Announcing Fulcrum School
A dream school. Handcrafted by pioneering educators. Nestled on four-and-a-half acres of gorgeous Texas Hill Country.
We are seasoned teachers and longtime educational executives who have spent our professional lives building educational platforms. As a married couple working together, we founded a school which grew into the largest network of Montessori schools in the world. Along the way, we worked with idealistic, inspired colleagues. We touched thousands of lives.
It was great, sweeping work. The time came for us to leave it behind. We were called to a different vanguard. Our latest project, our latest labor of love, is to build the ideal education for elementary and middle school students.
We purchased four-and-a-half acres of woods and fields —filled with hundred-year-old oak trees, Texas bluebonnets, a dry creek bed, and old farm buildings. There, we have launched the flagship elementary and middle school program we’ve been dreaming of our entire careers.
We are thrilled once again to be working directly with students, including our own three elementary-aged boys. We are bringing to bear everything we’ve learned about education over the past two decades to create a dream school for our family and for all the families who join us.
“Give me a lever…and a place to stand, and I will move the world.”
Fulcrum Schoolhouse
In summer 2025 we completely renovated the ranch house on our school property.
Walls were knocked down to create a spacious, light-filled studio with a glass wall that opens up to extend the classroom onto a shady outdoor patio.
An impressive library holds an ever-growing collection of books. Floor-to-ceiling shelves hold the very best of children’s literature for all ages, including Caldecott and Newberry honors books and winners. Our non-fiction collection specializes in world history, American history, and the history of science and technology for all ages. Few schools hold such a thorough library.
Inviting study rooms of various sizes are perfect for work in both small and large groups.
The schoolhouse has a full kitchen, and students have their own labeled spaces in pantry and fridge for the supplies and ingredients they use to prepare their own lunches each day – a wonderful practical life exercise.
We make full use of our school grounds, whether it is constructing sun clocks as part of our study of astronomy, or building rivers and dams with the controlled flow of water from our well. Our screened porch leads out onto a beautiful grassy yard where students can play sports. In another yard, our chickens, hatched from eggs and hand-reared by our students, wander happily, returning to their coop to roost. Students explore nature freely. Each day they make new discoveries: dragonflies caught with nets, scientifically observed, and let free; the Anole lizard living on the side of our old pig pen who spent a couple of days on display in our classroom; the deer who regularly delight our students by appearing outside our windows.
We’re giving our students the childhood we all dreamed of: the childhood they deserve. Their world is filled with wonderful things to explore, inspiring them to learn and achieve.
“In the quietude of a schoolhouse, individual children craft their adult souls, and civilizations are preserved and reborn.”
Our family is waiting to welcome you!
In fall of 2025, we opened our doors to our thriving group of elementary and junior high students. We are privileged to serve a warm, friendly, education-minded group of founding families. We’d love your family to join us.
